A Message From Ethiopia...

I know that when my solid Midwestern relatives read this post they are going to say to each other,"Julie has been in California too long."

This child gave me a message from Ethiopia today. I'm not kidding. I don't usually believe in stuff like this. This beautiful child, home only one month, told me to hold on. She wrapped her frail arms tightly around me, snuggled her head against my chest, and then patted my back with the smallest hand known to mankind. It was as if she was saying," I just came from there, your children are there, you need to hold on, be strong, and breathe". This resilient, beautiful, loving child said,"I have been through so much, get over yourself." Well actually she said it in a nicer way, with a smile, outreached arms, big beautiful eyes, and a hug like no other.

Strange, wondrous, unbelievable moment...

  20. Hang in there, my friend. Drew actually saw the special connection between you and that precious Ethiopian child and commented on it during the car ride home... so you're not just making crazy stuff up. I know the achiness your heart is feeling for these children destined to be yours. What feels like an eternity now will be a blip on the radar screen of life in no time. May you have an overwhelming serenity until then... XOXO

  21. I have read your blog so many times and you often move me to tears. It is so nicely done. My husband and I are in the middle of application process for Ethiopia. We have a three year old bio son. Thanks for baring your soul so often. You have sent me into tears on more than one occasion. I'm glad you heard what that little girl had to say to you, I think she is absolutely right.

P.S. Deb let me know about your blog so that is how I got connected.
