She's Learning...

  1. Yay Meazi! Julie, I love your backtracking posts...I am trying to get myself together to write a journal about our trip. I suppose it would have been easier had I journaled in ET, before I had a little man who decide 4:30 am was a good time to get up and play on a Saturday!

  6. What a smart kid and beautiful too. I noticed when she first said T she pronounsed it as "te" probably you know this but it's one of Amharic alphabet. But she corrected herself quickly. I know it won't be long till she forgets Amharic completly. Until about Meaza's age I used to speak Oromigna besides Amharic because my grandmother tought me. Nobody else in our household sopke Oromigna or maybe didn't want to so, now I can't even understand a simple hello.

Please post more photo of your trip to Ethiopia.

  7. I, too, loved seeing that instant of bilingualism in her. Children's brains are so amazing! She is a delight to see :)

  9. The letter recognition is AMAZING!! Most kids M's age(?)aren't anywhere near that!! Good work, mommy. Are you able to say the alphabet in Amharic? I loved catching up on more of your posts. The sleeping arrangement looks so warm and cozy....and what a special TREAT for Halloween! Tell your family hi when they crowd in for the holidays. We miss them! Alice

  12. Wow! And I love her sweet little voice with her accent! I hope she hangs onto that accent for a while. I can't wait to hear my little girl's voice...how surreal to think about!!

How old is your daughter? Do you feel like her age is accurate? I only ask b/c I think our daughter actually turned 2 in Oct versus turning 2 this February like they told us. I used an online converter with her birthdate that her mother gave (and checked it's validity with other adoptive moms) and it said Oct 2007 versus Feb 2008. Things that make you go hmmmmm. But at least we avoid the TB testing issue and THAT is a blessing in disquise.
