Angry.

My blood is boiling a bit. I just read an article on the opinion page in the Los Angeles Times. Regardless of how you feel about same sex marriage, I am sure you will find the words offensive. In a nutshell, and please take the time to read it, this man believes that the best thing for children is growing up with a 'biological mother and father.' The article offends me on so many levels. Since my comment could be only 650 letters, please lend your support too. In his perfect world, none of us, adoptive parents, single mothers, homosexuals, infertiles, should be raising children.

Here is the article
. I hate to even link to it here, but I need your help.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT to add: THEY WON'T PUBLISH MY COMMENT!!! Now Julie is really mad.

  2. There are so many logical fallacies with this piece - I say do a critique and send it in as a Letter to the Editor. It kind of reminds me of that Catholic philosopher guy that I am blanking on his name right now...

  3. I'm not in support of gay marriage, but I found his article to be highly offensive as well. The importance he puts on biological connection is ludicrous.

And that's ridiculous that they wouldn't post your comment! If they allow comments, they shouldn't censor them.

  5. I am in support of gay marriage so I'm offended but not surprised. In my sunday school class I have two adopted children that were adopted out of foster care. One little girl, actually waiting to be adopted by her wonderful single foster mother who she has been placed with off and on for YEARS as her biological mother has tried but unfortunatly failed to get her life together. The other is a wonderful little boy who was adopted at the age of three by a gay couple. This litttle boy needs a great deal of love and time and patience and had little chance of being adopted by anyone. What a sad world we live in when people want to legislate love all while we let the real issues keep on sitting on the side lines.

I will try to post a comment. I'll let you know if it gets pub

  6. I'm angry just knowing about it. There are so many idiots out there that it often seems progress toward equal rights for everyone is just a losing battle. You can't educate people who have not only a closed mind, but such hateful minds. It is so sad. That said, good for you for keeping up the fight! Someday, I hope same sex couples have the same rights as heterosexual couples; but it's going to take awhile.

  10. Last night while I couldn't sleep, I composed in my mind the perfectly articulate and diplomatic response to this unfortunately misguided fella. But now in the light of day, can I recapture my insomnia-induced genius? We'll see.

  11. What the eff? Seriously, that guy says a whole crapload of contradictory things many of which I tried to address in my comment, but it wouldn't allow me to post more than 650 characters or something...? I had to cut it down to the very meat of my comment. What a moron.
