It is truly trippy to see your name listed as someone's mother on a birth certificate. It is finally beginning to seem real.
Does anyone know how to say, "Don't worry, it'll be okay" in Tembarssa?
Today our best friends and our goddaughter arrive from Santa Fe to attend a party for these two children. My mom flies in from Wisconsin as well. The house will be full of some of my most favorite people.
These kiddos are already loved by so many.
We are tentatively leaving in FOURTEEN days.
I just threw up in my mouth a little.

You know for having never met you...you sure do make me cry a lot. I am so excited for this new chapter of you being able to stand in the doorway with Steven and watch your two childrens' chests rise and fall under their brightly colored blankets. It's going to be so much fun!

ReplyDeleteThese were on my cheat sheet index card that I took with us to Ethiopia. But I think I was so overcome/overwhelmed that I only busted the card out once or twice. Turo would say something in Amharic and point and we'd respond in English and point.
Okay, I just reread your post and realized that your request wasn't for Amharic. Any way... Enjoy the delight of the anticipation of these next few weeks.
ReplyDeleteI can't remember how to spell it, but phonetically is sounds like "Eye-zoe" for "It's all right." It's a more endearing way of comforting a child. I said it a lot when Z was in the hospital.
ReplyDeleteI think a calmness will settle over you as soon as you are with your children. When things are right, when we are stepping where we are supposed to step, the universe calms us...I think it's a "thank you" for listening to it. I am so happy for you both.

That is a super exciting piece of paper. Almost 2 years later and we still have it hanging on our fridge. It seems cemented in a way it hadn't when that comes through. So excited for you, and so very jealous.
