This Week...

This week has not gone as well as I hoped it would. Sanding has not been successful. Not at all successful.

I spoke to my friend, Grenache Blanc, and she said, "Keep on Truckin".

So we will.

This weekend we will go to the happiest place on earth. Meazi requested this day trip for her sixth birthday.

Please tell me it isn't as bad as it sounds?

  1. Sweet momma!
Sorry sanding did not go as well as you hoped. I hope DL does not send everyone into the atmosphere....it can certainly do that!
Hope next week is better all around.

  3. I'm so sorry you live so close to the happiest place on earth. Egads, I dread the day Manny figures out about that place. It's Friday, the week is almost over. Mine has also sucked. Here's to you and here's to me, cheers.

  5. disney can be magical for a child, especially ones M's age, and experiencing it through her eyes can make it tolerable:) (it could be a bit overwhelming for m though.) the best thing is to arrive early right when it opens and then it's not too crowded and there aren't long lines. the worst part about disney is that every ride exits into a shop! consumerism on steroids. oy. we only went once and our daughter hasn't asked to go back but she did love it in the moment. good luck!

  6. Snarf! You are hilarious. This week I wish I drank. Disney sounds both terrible and fun. Not sure which is more.

  7. We're having a family reunion at Disney World this winter with a bunch of cousins. I'm dreading it, (the Disney World part) but I'm sure Bereket will have fun.

  8. Holy cow. I am so right there with you. I feel like this week has been the longest week in my entire life. Preschool is causing insane emotions here all around. I need to get myself some super heavy duty sand paper and I need to get some for Dew Drop too. I can't even blog about it all yet- it's so intense and heart wrenching.

    *"bleg" cracks me up. :)

  9. You know I love Disney - and you know why? Because of such happy memories being there as a kid. I think it's magical, and I can still view it from those child eyes.

    Thinking of you lots.

  11. Just today another adoptive mama friend of mine wrote tips on her blog for making a trip to Disney successful. Couldn't tell you how effective they are, but it couldn't hurt to look! http://iamnotthebabysitter.com/2011/09/08/secrets-of-the-mouse/

  12. Oh, I'm sorry that the week hasn't gone as well as you hoped. The happiest place on earth sounds a bit like torture to me, but what I do remember from taking our oldest 2 there are the fun things-so maybe it wasn't so bad after all?

  13. Julie.
    This is E.
My daughter did not like Disney (we went for her 5th B day) She was sceared of shows espescially robots with guns. She wanted primarely to stay at Princess castles and Tarzan's house and even those were too dark and scary. I wish I still had her in Ergo. In the end of the day she said "We don't have to go again, do we ". But she did like cotton candy. She wished that I had dressed her as princeess, since so many kids were.
    We will not go again.

  14. I hope standing goes better next week and the week after and after.
Oh Disney, I have lots of mixed feelings about it. Some are like Rebekahs, and some are ones that make me cringe inside. Ignore the cringing ones and soak up the magic that you will see through Meazi's eyes.

  15. You make like it if she does. I didn't love it as a kid but my sisters did.

I love Chuck - e Cheese, which so many people hate. I love the way the kids are so happy.

Sorry the week was awful! Hope this coming week is better!

  16. Haven't been there yet. Not planning it until he knows it exists!

  17. Your analogies are so helpful, dead on and beautiful. Have been doing some sanding myself lately. It takes time but the results are worth it, right? Sorry this has been a hard week.

As for DL, keep your eye on your kids and ignore all the rest. If M&M are feeling joy (my boys bubble over with it in places like that, as did I as a child) then all that other stuff won't matter.

  18. Happiest place on Earth? (sigh) Who made up that slogan?

Thankfully, the place is a bit overwhelming for Carter. We've only been twice in his lifetime. We probably won't go again any time soon and that's just fine with us.

    I can't stand that place.

  19. I will never forget our first awful week of preschool/toddler care. Oh how we all cried. Even worse than the stress-crying at the drop off was the relief-crying at pick up time. They were all right when they said it gets better, but I wanted to punch every one of them for saying it at the time. Hugs to you darling!
