A couple of weeks ago I got an e-mail from a lovely woman named Shauna. She lives in Canada with her husband and her three children. Her boys are from Kambata. Her daughter Molly started a fundraising campaign to build a well in Addis Ababa. Shauna's friend donated some prints for her daughter's efforts, Because she was so successful (quickly raising the 10k for the well), Shauna asked if I would like to have the prints for the auction in April. (Who does that?!) Dale agreed, and so we have nine beautiful Peace Prints like the one above.
How cute are Shauna's kids ?

Thanks guys. Amazing. Truly Amazing.
* I am still trying to figure out if I should do some sort of online auction as well? Or maybe interested parties could bid by proxy? Enlisting one of the incredible families that are coming to bid for them? Let me know what you think.

Yes, please do an online bid!! We would love to support this, but its not in the cards to attend the fundraiser. Really would love to see you guys in person again though...
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of stuff are you looking for to put in the auction? You know my brother's a potter. Pretty darn good, as a matter of fact, but his work really has no relation to Ethiopia at all.

ReplyDeleteHere's his site.
Shauna and family are amazing! I have yet to meet her but she is a very pro-active member of the adoption community here in Canada.
ReplyDeleteHer and Molly saw the wee one for us way back last February!
I, for one, would like to be able to bid on the prints since we can't make it in person :(
Anything I can do to help online let me know!
I am so happy I was able to connect you and Dale. He is so incredibly generous, and I love his art.
ReplyDeleteMy hope is that there will be a chance to bid on some of these amazing pieces on-line - because I want some! Molly once simply posted photos of items on FB and people bid in the comment section of the photos. It is a great way to get some good bids before the night of the event, and, of course, the people who have bought a ticket to the event still have the final chance to secure the item that evening.
Either way, I really wish I could be there! What I really can't wait for is the day I take my kids back to Kembata to see the school and library. Now, THAT will be a great day!
I am so grateful that you are putting on this event. As Molly would say - you ROCK!
I would love to have an online auction too! Maybe have some pieces that are "online only"? I'm not sure if the proxy bidding would work in real time?
