Wanna guess how many Ugly Cries of Happiness I have this Holiday Season?
This one happened while decorating the tree. My mom was with us, and I unwrapped a tin ornament that she had given us on our wedding day. I was there with my children, my husband, and my mom-the ugly cry was inevitable.
So we'll have to come up with a good prize. The person who predicts the number of cries will win.
Rules:
Steven will keep track, although some of them happen when he is at work.
It has to be really ugly, no sniffles or single teardrops allowed.
Remember too, to include all ugly cries since Thanksgiving in your total.
Good Luck.
I am open to prize suggestions too.
Happy Holidays!

becca
My sides are hurting from laughing at this post! Ok, my guess.... from Thanksgiving until after Christmas, right?..... I'm going to go with 8. :-)
ReplyDelete22 :)
ReplyDelete72!
ReplyDeleteThis is great, not least of all because I just sent this post to my husband and said, "SEE! I am not the only one!". I'm gonna go with nine, nine ugly cries :)
ReplyDeleteHehe, this is cute! I am going to guess 27 ugly cries. A good gift? A nice handkerchief:)
ReplyDelete7. It's a holy number.
ReplyDeleteps: love your blog. don't read a lot of american blogs, but you are my exception.
12 because it would make me feel better... :)
ReplyDeletethis is the best thing I've seen all day. 11 is my guess.
ReplyDeleteCrying cleanses, at least that is what I tell myself. We will go for 22, our court date for our twins!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to say 9! I am an ugly crier too so don't be ashamed :)

hmmm, I love this by the way...the ugly crew!! I LOVE it!! such a good, deep release. I'm going to go with 13...a special number to me.

Every Christmas my mom would take out a little angel ornament her sister gave her - it's a little white puffy angel that looks like a sheep with yellow hair - and Mom would cry because her beloved sister gave it to her just before she died. Aunt Kris was a nun, she died at 32 of cancer. We would all stand around and cry with mom - and the kids would look at her wide eyed (I bet like your kids did). You know what I'm going to do, don't you? Every time I take out the little puffy angel that looks like a sheep, I cry just like my mom. I ugly cry every dang Christmas, just like my mom.
ReplyDeleteMy vote is ALOT, especially if we count Christmas day. I'm going to say 19.
Wow, that was a REALLY ugly cry. I love that someone actually caught it on camera. I had a week of ugly cries last week so I know how quickly they can add up. I am voting for 18. Amanda
ReplyDelete5?
ReplyDeleteI've only had one legitimate ugly cry so far this holiday season. But oh boy can I related. I definitely laughed outloud at this post. I will guess 14. And I give myself at least 2 more.
ReplyDeleteIf we are including everything from Thanksgiving to New Year's Day...I'm going with 10!
ReplyDeleteAnd the prize has to be one of those ugly dolls of course...I love those things!
Betting I can out-ugly cry anybody here...complete with dripping nose, etc.,
Amy
I'm going with 6 but I'm expecting them each to be truly hideous cries.
ReplyDeleteYou are just so loveable! How 'bout an 8?! :)
ReplyDelete17: My first thought was 11 but since Jen stole that number I'm going with 17. Jen if you win I'm stealing 1/2 the prize.
ReplyDelete: ). What a great post! I guess my guess would be 10.
ReplyDeleteI am going to say 94.
ReplyDelete29 days 3 cries a day plus 7 of the days will be "that time of the month" so added an extra for those!
Might be the ugly cry but it is for good reason- for the HAPPINESS of this HOLIDAY Season!!!
CRY AWAY!!! :)
My guess is 15.
ReplyDeleteThanks for making me laugh today!
65!
ReplyDeleteFrom one crier to another, I say 15. This is just one of the many reasons I love you so much.
ReplyDeleteOh, and you should have seen me at the Miles's Christmas pageant at school. It was uncontrollable ugly, with the snort.
What a great post! I am going to go with 37. But I know for sure it will be A LOT. I have had quite a few myself already.
ReplyDeleteI can not believe that cry was captured on camera and that you willingly Internetted it. You've got gumption, Julie!
ReplyDeleteI know your ugly cries will be tears of joy, now that your kids are home, so I'll guess high and say 34!
Oh, that picture is somethin'...love it. I'm going with 14, just because.
ReplyDeleteShe's baaaaack! Awesome idea.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking a lot too - at least one a day and then more on the big days - so, hmmm, how about a nice round 40?
As far as a gift? Well, shucks, thanks, but I'm pretty pleased with the holiday card I got in the mail today! Made my day!
25!
ReplyDeleteIf we're talking about ugly, as in, cannot for the life of you get it together over a period of hours, and having to leave a place where crying is inappropriate, then 6. If we're talking more than a tear, but less than a prolonged, hyperventilating deluge, then 28. I think that every time your heart broke it opened up wider and got bigger. More capacity for sadness = more capacity for love. That's how I feel, anyway. Happy uglycry season!
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up; one of the best photos ever. No one ever seems to be around with a camera when I am having a hotmess cry of pure concentrated fugliness.
ReplyDeleteBut you? Christ, you are beautiful even in sobs.
Cindy
You crack me up, you little nut! Will you be forthright in admitting to all the ugly crying? Or will Steven have to creep around to catch you ugly crying? If it makes you feel better I had an ugly tear fall down my cheek as I read your sweet post. I will say 16 ugly cries. That may be a bit high, but I am capable of an ugly cry myself pretty often.
ReplyDeletexoxo
tears of laughter here.
ReplyDeleteI want to say 7,but emily has already taken that!
LOVE that photo. Love even more that you posted it :)
Oh, and by the way... I think the prize should be a christmas tree ornament :) Something to see every year!
ReplyDeleteIf you are anywhere near as emotional as I am, my guess is 104. I have already had 2 big cries this morning during our 10 minute drive to school. I'm extra emotional today because we have our court date this morning to finalize our adoption. Typing this has added my third big cry for the day!
ReplyDeleteI would have picked 22, since that has always been my favorite number and now its the birthday of a certain little man in my life...but since someone already guessed it, I'll double it and say 44. I will also say that I'm glad this year we have the chance for happy ugly cries...
ReplyDeleteI guess 17.
ReplyDeleteWhen I win, if I can't have a round trip ticket to meet you in person, I think a donation to one of the Ethiopian charities (like, um, maybe EOR) would be an awesome gift!
Whoah - this is one emotional bunch. I'll make a conservative guess - 3 ugly cries.
ReplyDeleteLOL- I'll go with 12
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling the same way. I'm going to guess one every other day...because that's about how frequently they're happening at my house!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy for you and your cries :)
