Not What I Expected-Everything I Ever Wanted.

For the two people who read this blog and are not on Facebook, I wrote a new column for InCulture Parent. It's not all Wordless Wednesday people! Well, mostly. Thanks for reading.

  1. Julie- your article was beautiful and vulnerable and real and...well, just spoke to me in so many ways as a mother.
    Hugs...happy holidays!

  2. Thank you for the article, and for your honesty. Your picture spoke to me, as we recently received a similar photo, and are navigating the waters of international contact. I still have so many questions about how best to do it.

  4. I am a reader of your blog and I am NOT on Facebook, so thanks for posting the link here. Thanks for sharing this piece of your story. Our Ethiopian daughter's birth mother is still alive and that has been the hardest part of this adoption for me. Even after two years, we have regular and heartbreaking conversations about her. I want to meet her one day and tell her that I have poured my life into loving her daughter. Hope I get that day. Happy for you and your unique situation.
