Two words...Going Off !

Anyone have any good chard recipes? What exactly is chard?

  1. I just like chard sauteed with olive oil, garlic and sea salt...but you honestly can't mess it up- you can kind of dash whatever you'd like with it. Wish I had a more inspired recipe to share :)

  2. We used to make this swiss chard and white bean dish over pasta that was pretty tasty. Should I find the recipe?

  3. Oh yum! Chard is delicious. Roast it in the oven with olive oil, salt and pepper and then drizzle with balsamic. The old balsamic that is a bit sweet. Mmm. Or you are feeling adventurous, saute the stems, add chopped green olives and dates and saute until slightly soft and then throw in the leaves to wilt. Sprinkle with goat cheese and indulge.

    Great, most fabulous, excellent garden!

  4. I guess I'm the wrong person to ask, because I would have bet that was rhubarb.

  5. Isn't chard kind of like ultra-spinach? Spinach is about my limit on the green-veggie front, so I'm a little frightened of it. Good luck!

  6. Mmmmm....swiss chard....delicious steamed with a little butter (yes! I know it should be something healthier like olive oil but it tastes so good!) and a drizzle of red wine vinegar! YUMMMMM!!

  7. I love it sauteed with a bit of butter and some salt. Danni and Tommy are right, you can't mess it up! Lucky you!!!

  8. I bought some at the farmer's market last year and put it in everything to pump up the nutrition. I put it in omelettes, lasagne, salad, stir frys, paninis. It can be used in most recipes where spinach is called for. But sauteed with olive oil is great too.

  9. Chard is good as a replacement for spinach in most any recipe. If you want to fix it for kids to eat it, try cooking it down and then adding cream cheese. Pretty good stuff! You may have to cut out the ribs if it has gotten kind of mature though...bout like you would do with spinach or other greens.
    I love your blog...

  10. Boy, I just learn something new every time I come here. I had no idea what chard, swiss or otherwise, was and now I know how to cook it! Maybe you should stop jacking it up with so much miracle gro and steroids. Just kidding, just jealous 'cuz my ferenge garden seems to be somewhere between non-existent and weak this year.
