Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize....

Last Sunday a bunch of us attended a hair workshop. Here is the story on NPR.

  2. I wish we had someone willing to do this in my area. I was just stopped by an Ethiopian woman in Target the other day who gently informed me of the importance of putting oil in my daughters hair. I practically stalked her through the store bombarding her with hair questions. Wonder if Althea will take her workshop on the road :)

  3. Julie...this is awesome! I have been ignoring this issue for a while now and our court date is less than 2 weeks away. I guess I should get on it. Now you just need some kiddos home so you can put all your knowledge to use.

  5. I took one look at Matthew when I got home and said, that hair has got to go.

  6. Oh Wow! I loved this NPR piece and Althea and all of you moms who went to the workshop! My fiance is half Filipino and half African-American. He says that his mom kept his hair shaved (to be easy) and for him that worked....but his sister....sometimes REALLY struggled because they didn't know what to do with her huge luscious curls and so she had issues with that a lot. I have given thought to this and want to go to a workshop myself when the time comes. You never know what type of hair your baby will have but I know that I'll need help. It's such a good think to know Althea and her salon exist. Maybe we can all be so talented as to learn to braid 3/4 inch hair.....eventually!
